Cathy has taught both classical violin and viola in the City of Greater Geelong area since 1988. She has taught violin sessionally  and directed ensembles at the Christian College Geelong and Geelong Grammar. Cathy enjoys teaching students of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. She is a patient and enthusiastic teacher with over 35 years experience and can tailor learning to your needs and interests. That may be preparing for AMEB examinations or learning how to play jigs and reels. Cathy encourages her students to be social with their music and to join ensembles and music camps (Stringmania Fiddle, Rosewood & Turramurra Music Camps and Orchestra Geelong) She plays the piano and can accompany her students in their lessons and for exams & performances. 

Raised in a musical family playing music with her siblings, Cathy has continued the tradition with her own four daughters (Michelle Doyle, Harpist). In 2014 the National Celtic Festival awarded Cathy and her family the ‘Faces of the Festival’ in recognition of their contribution and support of the traditional folk music scene. Over the years Cathy has played viola in a number of local orchestras including the Geelong Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Geelong and the St Paul’s Occasional Orchestra. In 2015 she toured the UK and recorded with the Melbourne Scottish Fiddle Club for their 20th anniversary. Cathy has been a tutor and conductor at the Geelong Summer Music Camp since 1991 and fiddle tutor at Lake School of Celtic Music Song & Dance from 2015. Cathy enjoys working with string orchestras and she has directed award winning ensembles at the Royal South Street Competition and the Victorian School Music Festival.
